  • A products function is a it's main purpose, it's what the product is designed to do

  • Ease of use: how simple it is to use the product

  • colour: these are the colours on a product, colours can evoke feelings and associations so they should be considered carefully during any design.
  • Shape: shapes are 2d and can affect the user in different ways, this concerns the overall design and the different features of it
  • texture: how the product feels like or looks like how it would feel
  • contrast: when parts of the design (colour, texture, shapes) stand out from one another
  • harmony: when parts of the design (colours, shapes, textures) match up with one another
  • Ergonomics is how people interact with the products they use
  • Anthropometrics: the physical dimensions of different parts of a human body
  • Physiology: how the human body functions and it's capabilities
  • Psychology: how our mind and senses work and react
  • The market is both the customers of the product and the people promoting and selling the product
  • Market pull: when there is a demand for the product from customers
  • Technology push: when new technologies, materials and manufacturing methods are 'pushed' onto the market
  • Branding: The name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that makes one seller's product distinct from other sellers.
