    1. Pencil - basic instrument used in - drawing, made of carbon which produces lines.
  • 2 Types of pencil:
    a. soft pencil - used in mechanical drafting

    b. medium - general purpose in drawing

    c. hard pencil - used when extreme accuracy is required
    • Compass - an instrument used to draw circles and arcs.
  • 6. Protractor - instrument used for drawing arcs and for measuring angles which cannot be ob- tained by the triangles.
  • Erasing shield - a thin sheet of metal with holes of different shapes and sizes intended to erase unwanted portion of the drawing.
  • . Template - used as a guide in drawing shapes, letters and numbers with different sizes.
  • 2. 1ft ruler - the common 1 ft ruler is marked with centimeters and inches and made of plastic, wood and metal. This instrument is used to measure short distances.
  • Visible line (object line) - A thick line which represents the outline of the real object
  • Hidden line Medium thick dashes which represent the hidden part of the object
  • Center line - It represent the center axis of a circle, triangle or cubes
  • Section line Thin line used to show the surface that has been cut
  • Extension line w/ dimension line - A thin line that extends from the object in order to show dimension limits

    A thin line with an arrowhead in one end to indicate the measurement of the object
  • Long break line w/ short break line - A medium thick line consisting of broken and straight lines drawn alternately. It is also known as the limiting line, it limits the length of an elongated object without changing the size of its view
