• Free school meals - 1906 - the government made it compulsory for schools to provide free school meals to poor children
• school medical inspections - 1907 - free medical checks for children by doctors or nurses and could advise on treatments if necessary
• Old age pensions - 1908 -provided weekly pensions from the government to people over retirement age
• children act - 1908 - law put in place protected children from cruelty from their parents. Children under 14 who committed crimes now were no longer sent to adults prison
• labor exchanges act - 1909 - created job centers to help the unemployed look for a job
• National insurance act - 1911 - workers were all given sick pay and got insurance stamps

• 1802 - Parliament give Jenner 10,000 pounds for his work into vaccination
• 1831 - Cholera arrives in England, killing an estimate 50,000 people

• 1865 - Pasteur proves that germs cause disease in Animals
• 1867 - working class men are given the right to vote
• 1867 Joseph Lister published description of carbolic antiseptic
• 1875 - the housing act was passed, giving the local councils the right to demolish slum dwellings
• 1875 - the second public health act was passed
• 1876 - Koch identifies the anthrax germ
• 1882 - Koch identifies the TB germ
• 1899 - the Boer war - found that 40% of British men were unfit to fight
• 1905 - the first magic bullet, salvarsan 606 is retested by Dr Hata on Dr Paul Erlich's team
• 1906 - first of the liberal reforms is passed
• 1914-18 - the first world war
