• most digital users follow, like or retweet candidates who views they already share
• social media is more important at their the base than swaying allegiances
• the mainstream media became more partisan . News outlets like Fox ( Republican ) and MSNBC (Democrat) tend to reflect one side of the political spectrum
• In 2016 , right wing outlets leapt on the news surrounding Clinton’s email servers while those of a more liberal disposition dwelt on Trump’s Hollywood Access tape
