  Collect, process and respond to information from the environment using senses. Also, controls organs and cells.

• What is in the central nervous system?

  The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord.
• What is the function of the brain in the nervous system?

  • Retrieve and process information from senses. E.g visual cortex interprets visual information.
  • The centre of mental consciousness

• What is the function of the spinal cord in the central Nervous system?

  • Connects the peripheral nervous system to the senses
  • Conducts signals to and from the brain
  • Controls reflex actions (Taking hand off hot plate)

  The Peripheral Nervous System is divided into the Somatic Nervous System and the Autonomic Nervous System.
