Simulated religious experiences by stimulating the temporal lobes with the 'God helmet'. Claimed the sense of self was lost so the self intrudes the consciousness causing us to feel like there is another being present in our mind. This was tested with over 900 people who said they all experienced what they thought was a religious experience
