The Seasons

• Two factors are responsible for seasons on earth:

  1. earths axis is on a tilt
  2. the earths rotation around the sun
• Seasons in the northern hemisphere:

  • summer= long days, short nights, sun rises very high
  • winter= short days, long nights, sun does not rise very high
• Earths rotation:

  • winter= Britain tilted away from the sun
  • spring= equal day and night on march 21st
  • summer= Britain tilted towards the sun
  • autumn= equal day and night on sept 21st
