Features of a Story

• EXPOSITION/INTRO- beginning of the story where the characters and the setting are revealed
• RISING ACTION- series of conflicts or struggles that build a story toward a climax
• CLIMAX- the turning point of the story; highest action and suspense
• RESOLUTION/FALLING ACTION- end of the story where loose ends are tied up

• Theme- central idea of a work of literature
