The ITCZ is an area of low pressure where the trade winds meet.
Tropical maritime and tropical continental air masses converge causing warm air to rise, cool and condense creating clouds, bringing rain.
The ITCZ follows the overhead sun so in the summer, it moves north.
When it moves north, it drags tropical maritime air with it, bringing warm and wet weather from the Atlantic Ocean to all areas south of the ITCZ.
In winter, the ITCZ follows the sun south. When it moves south, it drags the tropical continental air with it, bringing hot-very hot and dry weather from the Sahara Desert to all areas north of the ITCZ.
