2.1 Comparing RNA & DNA

• DNA's structure is an antiparallel double helix. RNA's structure is a single strand.
• (Length) RNA is shorter than DNA. DNA is longer than RNA.
• (Alternative bases) DNA has Thymine. RNA has Uracil.
• (Sugar) DNA has deoxyribose. RNA has ribose.
• DNA can be found in the nucleus. RNA can be found in the nucleus and cytoplasm.
• RNA is the nucleic acid which does protein synthesis.
• Types of RNA:

  • Messenger RNA: (found in the nucleus and cytoplasm)
  • Ribosomal RNA: (found in ribosomes) transfers genetic information from DNA to the ribosomes.
  • Transfer RNA: they move amino acids around.
