  • The type of exercise a person chooses to do can influence their nutritional needs. People who do more intense exercise will burn more energy and will need to eat more to replenish stores to healthy amounts. More intense exercise also requires a greater fluid intake, alongside replenishing electrolytes lost through sweating.
  • The frequency of exercise also affects the amount of energy; a person who attends rugby club once a week will have different nutritional needs someone to who goes to the gym every day.
  • There are smaller changes a person may make to increase their activity levels, such as using standing desks, walking or cycling to work or using stairs instead of lifts. Even small changes can have an impact on nutritional needs.
