  • nature refers to the behaivoral and biological factors that influence the development of a person. our genes will decide how we develop, what we look like, and how we behave.
  • innate - born with that characteristic meaning we cannot change it (linked with nature).
  • nurture refers how the environment influences our development and behaviour. this includes the influence of our upbringing, our friends, diet and life experiences (both good and bad).
  • most of the way our brain forms is due to nature(instructed by our genes and DNA, but not completely. the pregnant mothers lifestyle can affect brain development:
    • smoking: affects the size of the brain aswell as the body because nicotine in cigarettes slows down brain growth
    • infection: infections such as rubella/german measles often lead to brain damage, especially hearing loss if infected in the first 20 weeks.
