  • Patient's abilities were tested using a tachistoscope - a device that displays images for a specific amount of time.
  • In this case, visual stimuli were back-projected onto the screen at a very high speed.
  • Below the screen there was a gap so that participants could reach everyday objects but not see what their hands were doing.
  • The images projected by the tachistoscope were projected to the right or left side of the screen and thus were seen by the right or left visual field of each eye.
  • An image projected to the right visual field is processed by the left hemisphere of the brain and vice versa.
  • Information from the left hand is linked to the right hemisphere and vice versa.
