Minority Influence

Cards (5)

  • Minority influence is when a individual or a small group manage to influence a bigger group and change there beliefs and behavior
  • Consistency increases interest. Synchronic Consistency is when people within the minority are consistent. Diachronic consistency is when the minority is sharing the same view.
  • Commitment is shown by a minority showing there dedication to the cause as this will show how strongly they feel about it.
  • If a minority lacks flexibility, people will be unwilling to consider other viewpoints. Showing flexibility lets other people see the minorities as approachable. If the minority is willing to adapt, this makes other people more likely to take note of there reasonable points
  • The snowball effect is when the minority manages to influence one or two more people then they influence a couple more and this gradually grows so eventually, the minority becomes the majority, or will at least increase in size.
