  • Scrotum - protective sac of skin, where testes are located
  • testes - produce sperm and testosterone, located in scrotum. The primary male reproduction organ.
    • seminiferous tubules - tiny coiled tubes in the testes where sperm are produced
  • rete testis - connects the Seminiferous Tubules to the Efferent Ducts
  • efferent ducts - connects the Rete Testis to the initial section of the Epididymis
  • Epididymis - where maturation of sperm happens, where most sperm are stored
  • vas deferens - also called “ductus deferens” transports sperm cells from the Epididymis to the Ejaculatory Duct
  • seminal vesicle - produces fluid rich in sugar that nourishes sperm and helps it move
  • ejaculatory duct - tube that is formed by the union of the ends at Vas Deferens and Seminal Vesicle
  • Prostate Gland - secretes the sperm alkaline fluid that neutralizes the acids in the female reproductive system
  • bulbourethral Gland - “Cowpers Gland” produces alkaline fluid that neutralizes traces of acids in the male urethra secretes “semen”
    • Urethra - passageway of the sperm and urine
  • penis - erectile tissue, erects penis, ejaculates semen
  • Erectile Tissue - stiffens the penis uses blood
  • Prepuce ( Foreskin ) - the skin of the head of the penis removed during circumcision
  • Glans of the Penis - sensitive part of the penis
  • Ureter - carries urine to the kidney
  • Urinary Bladder - stores urine
  • Testosterone - responsible for the secondary male characteristics
  • Luteinizing Hormone - stimulates the Leydig Cells for the secretion of the sec hormone “Testosterone”
  • Follicle-stimulating hormone - stimulates the cells in the testis in the production of sperm ( spermatogenesis )
  • Ejaculation - forceful expulsion of the sperm out pf the male’s body
  • Head - made up of a nucleus covered by a cap called “acrosomes”, stores enzyme that is needed to penetrate the egg cell
  • Mid Piece - contains the mitochondria, supplies the energy needed by the sperm through the female reproductive system
  • Tail - a powerful flagellum that whips back and forth, allows the sperm to move
