PLEURA, BLOOD SUPPLY, AND VENTILATION

Cards (5)

  • Pleural cavity - fluid-filled space that surrounds and protects each lung

Parietal pleura - covers the inner thoracic wall
Visceral pleura - covers the surface of the lung
  • Mediastinum - separates the two pleural cavities and contains the heart, trachea, esophagus, thymus, and other structures
  • Boyle's Law - the pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to its volume
  • Dalton's Law - the partial pressure of a gas in a mixture of gases is the percentage of gas in the mixture
  • Henry's Law - the concentration of a gas dissolved in a liquid is equal to the partial pressure of the gas times the solubility coefficient of the gas
