Nerves

Cards (5)

  • The lumbar sphlancics are found in L1 and L2 levels.
  • The sacral sphlancics are found levels 3-5 of the sacrum
  • Viscerosensory axons carry sympathetic impulses and pain through the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral sphlancic nerves
  • Viscerosensory axons carry parasympathetic impulses and reflexes through the parasympathetic pathways.
  • Sensitization is a process that occurs in spinal gray matter (interneurons) and results in an increased excitability of the involved neurons, creating more synaptic junctions to increase the response to the stimulus. Long Term sensitization is a long lasting form of excitability in reflex pathways that can last for hours and often occurs with the same stimuli as sensitization.
