Are schools institutionally racist?

• To support: Gillborn - ethnocentric perceptions; teachers try not to be racist but may have judgements or percieve ethnic minority students negatively
• Lack of ethnic role models in British schools - e.g. most teachers are White British
• To support: the idea of an ethnocentric curriculum - focus on British values and ideas, students from ethnic minorities might not or won't be able to fully engage <-- may have no understanding.
• How schools tackle racism - is racist behaviour identified and reprimanded or simply ignored?
