  • The case study is a descriptive record of a single individual's experiences, or behaviors, or both, kept by an outside observer. Such a record may be produced by systematically recording experiences and behaviors as they have occurred over time. Clinical psychology, in particular, has relied heavily on case studies. The case study method is also employed extensively in forensic psychology and organizational psychology. Like phenomenology, the case study method involves no manipulation of antecedent conditions.
