Glycolysis

Cards (3)

  • Occurs in the cytoplasm
    1. Phosphorylation of glucose to glucose phosphate via the hydrolysis of ATP to ADP
    2. Splitting of phosphorylated glucose into triose phosphate
    3. Oxidisation of triose phosphate to make reduced NAD from NAD
    4. Ecan triose phosphate molecule is converted to pyruvate. Two molecules of ATP are regenerated from ADP
  • Overall yields from glycolysis:
    • 2 molecules of ATP
    • 2 molecules of reduced NAP
    • 2 molecules of pyruvate
