Arterial supply of the upper limb

  • Upper Limb Arteries:
    A) subclavian artery
    B) axillary artery
    C) brachial artery
    D) radial artery
    E) ulnar artery
  • Upper limb arteries:
    1. All upper limb blood supply originates from the subclavian artery
    2. The subclavian artery descends until the lateral border of the 1st rib
    3. It then becomes the axillary artery until it reaches the inferior border of teres major
    4. Here it becomes the brachial artery, giving off a deep branch (brachial artery profunda brachii)
    5. At the elbow the brachial artery divides into radial and ulnar arteries
