Chromosomes

• Eukaryotic cells contain linear DNA molecules exisiting as chromosomes
• These long DNA molecules are wound around proteins called histones, this makes compact chromosomes
• When DNA replicates it forms X shaped structure ( a pair of sister chromatids)
• Prokaryotic don't have histones
• All body cells have homologous pair of chromosomes
• Sexuql reproduction is the fusion of two gametes, this produces homologous chromosomes
