    1. Study aimed to see if the ability to delay or not was a consistent personality trait.
    It is a follow-on study to see if the ability to delay gratification in childhood predicts impulse control later in life.
  • 2. Researchers also wished to see if this ability could be linked to differences in the way the brain behaved when resisting temptation.
  • 3. The study aimed to investigate impulse control at both behavioural and neural levels ie. whether they press a button or not (behavioural) and what regions of the brain are active (neural).
  • Impulse control refers to the ability to resist or regulate impulsive behaviors, urges, or reactions.
