This was a longitudinal study conducted over a period of about 40 years. The present part of the study involved two quasi-experiments.
The independent variable in both experiments was whether participants were high delayers or low delayers.
exp 1 = The dependent variable was reaction time and accuracy on certain go/no go tasks.
Quasi experiment:
A quasi-experiment is a research approach that investigates the effects of an intervention without full random assignment of participants, often using pre-existing groups or conditions for comparison.
exp 2. = The dependent variable was activity in target areas of the brain that are associated with cognitive control.
