  • A virus inserts itself into other computer programs and when the program is run, the virus replicates
  • A trojan pretends to do one legitimate task but secretly acts maliciously in the background
  • Spyware collects information about you without your knowledge
  • Hacking - accessing computer systems as an unauthorised user
  • Hacking requires technical and psychological skills and not all cyber attacks include hacking
  • Hacking can result in data theft (data s extracted and stolen)
  • Interception is when data is stolen when moving through networks
  • Interception can also involve eavesdropping
