• Hydrogenation is a method of converting alkenes to alkanes. The conditions for this are : a temperature of 150°C, a nickel catalyst and hydrogen gas.
• An elimination reaction is a method of converting halogenalkanes into alkenes. The conditions for this are hot concentrated sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in ethanol.
