Secondary structure

• The protein chain can be arranged in two ways alpha helix or beta pleating
• In alpha helix there is one spiral for every 3.2 amino acids
• In beta pleating there are many protein strands side by side
• in both alpha helix and beta pleating the proteins are held together by hydrogen bonds
