    • Anxiety causes adrenaline levels to rise in the body as part of the “fight or flight” response. • This can interfere with the sleep cycle and cause the body temperature and heart rate to increase, making it harder to fall asleep
  • Alcohol:
    • Alcohol has sedative effects that can induce feelings of sleepiness, but has been linked to poor sleep quality and duration
  • Caffeine
    Blocks adenosine receptors on neurons, making the body less responsive to the build-up of adenosine, reducing feelings of tiredness. • Too much caffeine leads to a build up of adenosine leading to feelings of grogginess the next day
