This can be seen in the formal curriculum, such as the history syllabus where prominent male role models are presented in positions such as power and very little is taught about the role of women and their contribution to society.
Other subjects are segregated and presented to reinforce the hegemonic masculinity as powerful and dominant such as sports, where 'rough' contact sports are denied to girls or are played in separate gender teams.
