• -Oakley found that women remain primarily responsible for domestic labour despite working in paid labour resulting in women feeling oppressed by the dual burden of paid work and housework. She found little evidence to support the notion that roles in the family were becoming more ‘symmetrical, and found that power was more equally shared between couples.
