PLANT VS ANIMAL CELLS

• Only plant cells contain plastids, such as chloroplasts.
• Chloroplast is where photosynthesis occurs
• Chloroplast contains chlorophyll, giving the plant its green color.
• Only plant cells have a cell wall which gives the cells a definite shape.
• Only animal cells have centrioles
• Both plant and animal cells have a vacuole, but a plant cell has one bigger vacuole, while an animal cell has multiple, small vacuoles.
• Animal cells come in various sizes and round, irregular shapes. Plant cells are more similar in size and are typically rectangular or cube shaped.
• Animal cells are generally smaller than plant cells
• Animals cells store energy in the form of the complex carbohydrate compound. Plant cells store energy as starch or sugar.
• Animal cells increase in size by increasing in cell numbers. Plant cells mainly increase cell size by becoming larger. They grow by absorbing more water into the central vacuole.
