plasma cells

Cards (4)

  • plasma cells are clones to the B-cell
  • they secrete loads of antibodies specific to the antigen, called monoclonal antibodies
  • the released antibodies form antigen-antibody complexes with antigens on the surface of the pathogens
  • an antibody has two binding sites, so can bind two pathogens at once, which causes them to clump together - agglutination. phagocytes then bind to antibodies and phagocytose many pathogens at once, leading to the destruction of that pathogen in the body
