  • speciation is the development of a new species
  • speciation occurs when populations of the same species become so different that they are no longer able to interbreed to produce fertile offspring
    • Isolation occurs between a species due to geographical disasters
    • conditions on either side will be different
    • different characteristics will become more common due to natural selection
    • each population has a variation due to different alleles
    • each population has individuals with better characteristics that allows them to survive. these are passed on and a new specie is formed.
