Cloning

• Plants can be cloned from tissue culture and from cuttings
• Tissue culture:

  put plant cells in a growth medium with hormones which grow into new plants (clones)

  tissue culture is used to preserve rare plants

  tissue culture can be done quickly in small spaces
• Cuttings:

  gardeners take cuttings from parent plants to produce genetically identical copies

  these are produced quickly and cheaply
