Christians can pray together or alone, out loud or silently, in church or anywhere they happen to be. Informal
prayers give Christians the opportunity to pray to God in their own way and in their own words.
Set prayers using words that everyone can follow are often used in liturgical worship, but may also be used
by Christians as part of their own private prayer.
The best known Christian prayer is called The Lord’s Prayer because it is the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples. Most Christians know this prayer by heart:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed* be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,
    on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
    Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation
    but deliver us from evil.
    For the kingdom, the power,
    and the glory are yours
    now and for ever.
    Amen.
