  • One of the skeptics arguments is from optical illusions and the untrustworthiness of the senses
  • the senses do not give us certainty according to Augustine. the mind does. we are certain that we exist and that we think (even if we think wrongly)
  • we find other certain truths in our minds that cannot change and do not depend on the senses or the material world
