• Cominform - Communist Information Bureau

  Formed 22 September 1947 and consisted of 9 members;

  • Communist party of Soviet Union and of Satellite states

  Strongest support from Yugoslavian communists under leadership of Tito

  Headquarters were in Belgrade
• Yugoslavia was expelled in June 1948 due to tensions and the headquarters moved to Romania.
• Cominforms purpose was to coordinate communist parties in europe and ensure they follow the soviet aims on foreign policy.

  It also introduced soviet style economic policies

  • Collectivisation of agriculture
  • State control of industry
  • Purge members who didn't agree with Moscow
