  • Melatonin: a hormone secreted by the pineal gland which inhibits melanin formation. Makes on sleepy when it is dark, blue light from phone can disrupt the production of it.
  • Adrenaline: a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands that increases rates of blood circulation, breathing, and carbohydrate metabolism and prepares muscles for exertion
  • Insulin: a hormone released from the pancreas, made by the beta-islet cells when glucose levels are high; it stimulates cells to take up glucose from the bloodstream
  • Glucogon: Made in the alpha-islet cells of the pancreas. Increases blood glucose levels. secreted by pancreas and travels in the blood stream to target organ, liver. Glucagon binds with liver glycoprotein triggering it to convert glucagen into glucose to let it out in the blood.
  • Growth Hormone (GH): Produced by the pituitary gland, GH promotes growth and cell reproduction.
  • Leptin: A hormone secreted by adipose tissue that inhibits hunger
  • Antidiuretic hormone (ADH): Also known as vasopressin, ADH regulates water balance in the body by increasing urine concentration. Made in the pituitary gland.
  • Thyroxine: A hormone produced by the thymus gland that regulates metabolism.
  • ADH: alcohol stops ADH from working, letting all the water escape when peeing, leaving one dehydrated with a hangover.
  • Acetylcholine: A neurotransmitter that is involved in learning and memory, can also make muscles contract.
