The Mughal period is associated with a growth of beautiful art.
Handwritten books and poetry were decorated with patterns, borders and small detailed paintings called miniatures created, providing detailed information about the Mughal court and empire.
The Mughals did not force Central Asian architecture on India (unlike the British who would later build Western style buildings). Instead the Mughals style of architecture was a mix of Hindu design, using figures, animals and variety, with the Islamic highly symmetrical, geometric patterns.
The style relied particularly on colour and inlaid precious gems.β
