  • Chemical energy for cell processes is carried by ATP.
  • Carbohydrates and lipids are the most important energy sources. We use carbohydrates first. Energy stored in molecules is released when molecules are broken down by series of chemical reactions.
  • Adenosine Triphosphate(ATP) is a molecule used to transfer energy from food molecules to cell processes. It is a short term energy supply in cells to power life processes such as: building and breaking down molecules, active transport, production of new cells, and growth and repair.
