  • Harmony - it creates an impression of unity or oneness through the proper selection and arrangement of the object that are consistent with one another.
  • Proportion - it relates to space relationship. it is concerned with good spacing.
  • Rhythm - it refers to the organization of the design that leads the eyes easily from one part of the object to the other parts.
  • Emphasis - it refers to the part of the object where the eyes should be attracted.

  • Perforating or pouncing - trace the design onto a heavy piece of tracing paper and prick holes about 1.5mm apart around the design outline with a needle.
  • Direct tracing - the design may be transferred to the fabric by placing the design underneath the fabric and tracing the lines with soft pencil or painting them with water color.
  • Basting - this method is used for coarse or textured fabric. trace the design onto the fine tracing or tissue paper, baste onto the fabric, and sew over the lines with small running stitches.
