Caste System in India

• Brahmins – mainly teachers and intellectuals and are believed to have come from Brahma’s head.
• Ksatriyas – warriors and rulers from Brahma’s arms.

   
• Vaishyas – traders who came from Brahma’s thighs.
• Sudras – all who did menial jobs and came from Brahma’s feet.
• Dalits – untouchables 
• The caste system is based on the belief that people are born into their particular castes, which they cannot change during their lifetime.
• Caste determines what kind of work a person can do.
