    • Glucose undergoes a series of transformations and gets converted into pyruvate molecules. Additionally, these reactions yield ATP and reduce NAD+ to NADH.
    • It is breakdown of glucose to extract energy. It is a cytoplasmic pathway , occurring in nearly all organisms , which breaks down glucose into two three-carbon compounds and generates energy. It does not use oxygen , and is therefore anaerobic.
    • Anaerobic - The glycolytic pathway operates in the absence of oxygen.
    • Coenzymes - Accepts high energy electrons and protons ion becoming it’s reduced form.
    • NAD - Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide
      Reduced form: NADH
    • FAD - Flavin adenine dinucleotide
      Reduce form: FADH2
    • GROSS ATP YIELD
      • 4 ATP
      NET ATP YIELD
      • 2 ATP
*****deducted 2 ATP from the creation process

      END PRODUCTS
      • 2 NADH + 2H
      • 2 pyruvate + H20
      • 2 ATP
