Role of president Zamora:
He refused to appoint Gil-Robles as prime minister, in spite of the 1933 election result. He believed Gil-Robles was determined to undermine democracy and establish and authoritarian regime. He asked Lerroux to form a new government. It consisted of the Radical Republicans with support in the cortes from CEDA. New government's key aim of this was to reverse the reforms introduced under Azana.
