Cards (2)

  • Childhood is changing/ disappearing
You could talk about how the lines between childhood and adulthood have become more blurred in the latter half of the twentieth century and today. Use examples of media saturation and hyper-reality (Giddens) to explain the role of the global media and social media in exposing children to adult themes.
  • Childhood is changing/ disappearing
There is a rise in marketing of adult products (cars, beauty, fashion) to children - this is due to the commercialisation of childhood and how children can persuade parents to buy certain products by using pester power (Marxist view - this puts more burden on the working-class man to earn money)
