  • vectors, like force, have magnitude and direction. Scalars, like temperature, do not have direction. We use + and - signs to show the direction of a vector.
  • Displacement time graph: a steeper graph shows faster motion. A -ve gradient shows backwards motion.
  • Velocity time graph: zero gradient shows no acceleration and constant velocity .
  • Newton first law: every object remains still or moved with constant velocity unless an unbalanced force acts on it.
Newton second law: the acceleration of an object is proportional to the resultant force acting on it
  • Newton third law: forces occur in pairs of the same kind acting on different objects with equal size in opposite direction
  • When 2 or more forces act on one object each force can be represented by its own arrowed lines to show the combined effect of the force we draw the line segments tip to tail so that their direction arrows follow on
  • Equilibrium means perfect balance in every direction
  • Ty=Tsin0 and Tx=Tcos0
  • The turning effect or moment of a force about a given point is defined as the products of the force and the perpendicular distance between the point and the line of action of the force. The SI unit for ,moment is newton per metre
