    Permission given by a person after they have been fully informed about the risks, benefits, and alternatives of a medical procedure or research study.
  • What is deception?
    The act of misleading or tricking someone about the purpose of the study
  • when is it neccessary to use deception?
    when the participant may guess what the aim of the study is and they can respond to demand characteristics
  • What is protection from harm?
    where the researcher must make sure the participants are in no more physical and emotional harm than they would be in normal life.
  • what is the right to withdraw?
    Participants have the right to stop the study at any point and the researcher must tell them they have this right
