Digestion

• The digestive system in mammals consists of a long tube, which sometimes contain muscles. Enzymes can be released into this tube from associated glands.
• The ileum, or small intestine, is a long muscular tube where most of digestion takes place.
• The walls of the ileum can produce some digestive enzymes. Glands can also release enzymes into the ileum.
