Osmosis

• The aim of the experiment is to investigate the effect of a range of concentrations of salt or sugar solution on the mass of plant tissue.
• The equipment list for the experiment includes plant tissue, a cork borer, a ruler, a measuring cylinder, labels, boiling tubes, a test tube rack, paper towels, a sharp knife, a white tile, and a range of salt or sugar solutions.
• In the first step of the method, plant tissue is immersed in a range of concentrations of salt or sugar solution to find the change in length or mass of the plant tissue to investigate the movement of water by osmosis into or out of the plant tissue.
