  • the white terror began as soon as Robespierre and his followers were purged. It was a series of campaigns and violent purges that resulted in the death of many Jacobins in prison
  • in Paris, the white terror was supported by the Muscadins and the gilded youth as they shut down Jacobin newspapers and threatened Jacobin members.
